Paint the Scales Red

One of my "treasures" I found at the estate sale I went to Saturday was a brass scale.

I am not a big fan of brass, so I decided it would look better red. I never remember to take a before picture, so I ran and grabbed my camera. I had already started painting one of the dishes.

Looking better after the first coat...

Now...I like it much better. I am trying to decide where to put it.

That's the ticket...a toilet paper holder in the powder room.

  1. What a wonderful find. I have a similar one that was originally painted turquoise that is well worn with the brass dishes. I love it. Using it in the bathroom is so unique. Love it. Hugs, Marty

  5. Like your redo! I got rid of a ton of brass items years ago. If I had known they were coming out with some of the great paints they have now, I would have kept a lot of the things.
Temps going down a bit! :D

  7. Sheila-I NEVER would have thought of that! It is perfect for keeping the TP handy and looks so much better in red. Love those adorable grandsons and the Home Depot project!
