Jackson's 2nd Birthday-Pirate party

Ahoy mateys, come on in and enjoy Captain Jackson's 2nd birthday party. Shannon had a cute wreath to greet us at the door.

And a pirate flag on the walk. Beware all who enter.

Miss Anne is loving on Jacob. Isn't he a cutie pie?

Here I am with my sweet little pirate.

Jackson has a cool drink and a pirate tattoo. Yo Ho ho...

You will find a bowl of goldfish and some pirate booty in the sandpail. Yum!

Cute cupcakes Shannon made.

And the cake was so cute, made to look like our little scallywag.

A watermelon ship with delicious fruit, made by my father, Jackson's great-grandfather, also known as Gaga..

It is hard to roundup a group of kids for a picture.I spy Collier, Jon Duke, Connor, Anna Jayne, William, and Jackson

The little pirate in his hat and eyepatch. Arrgh-he didn't care for it much. I had to take this pic very quickly.

The cake table was set in the dining room.

Hot dogs and chips and dip were served in the kitchen.

Even Aunt Shawn and Uncle Darris got in on the fun.

The candle is lit. Anna Jayne is watching.

Jackson blowing out his candle.

Grandparents, Mamaw and Papaw, and great-grandparents, Nanny and Gaga, in the living room.

Fun with the cousins. and Auntie Ginger.

A pile of loot.

Reed likes the presents too.

Mimi and Buddy with jackson. He was too busy to stop to take a picture.

Off came the clothes and Jackson and Reed tried out the new water table, which was a big hit. A good time was had by all. No one had to walk the plank.

My attempt at a 4th of July tablescape

Yes, I have always enjoyed setting a cute table, but I don't think mine compares to some of the beautiful tablescapes I have seen recently at Between Naps on the Porch. But anyhoo, here it is. It started out as an idea to have a picnic for the fourth. Well, it has been hot as blazes lately down here in Tennessee, so we decided that we will eat indoors... still a picnic, right? So, I decided to go up in the attic...I'm saying HOT...to see what decorations I could find. I remembered my girls' American Girls Dolls had a wagon and a quilt that kinda seemed picnickey. Recently, I bought a rusty little bicycle at Hobby Lobby, love that place. So out came the red and white tablecloth and it all worked.

As I was heading up to the attic, this cute little red station wagon called out to me. My husband likes antique cars and street rods, so I have bought a few for him to collect. Isn't this rusty bicycle cute?I dont have 8 matching salad plates, but these 2 sets do seem to go together. Both sets are from the Goodwill. Did you notice the tomato salt and pepper shakers? They belong to my mother, as do the napkins with tomatoes and veggies. I thought it would be fun to drink from jelly jars. Well the big day is tomorrow, and I can't wait. Younger daughter and her fiancee have other plans, but older daughter and her hubby and son will join us. We will have fried chicken, potato salad, corn on the cob, rolls, sliced tomatoes, fruit, , and chocolate cake.Yummy...Enjoy your holiday, and GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Well, I am new to blogging. I decided that since my daughter has such a cute blog, I would try it too, so here goes. A lot is going on in my life right now. We built a home and moved into it a little over 1 year ago. My parents have moved in with us . We built them a little wing with their own sitting room, bedroom, bath, and snack bar . It is working out well. My oldest daughter , Shannon, has been married to her husband, Jason, for 3 years and has a beautiful, handsome little boy named Jackson. They are expecting another baby in November, Thanksgiving Day to be exact. My youngest daughter, Shawn is engaged to be married next Spring. My husband, Joey and I have been married 28 years this year. Where does the time go? I am a nurse and I work about 20 hours a week. After that job, I get to babysit for my grandson 3 days a week. That is my favorite job. The pay is not as good, but oh, the benefits...! I enjoy tablescaping, decorating, baking and cooking, and reading-especially blogs and magazines, ha. I sometimes feel like my life is not interesting enough to have a blog, but we'll see what the next few months bring.
