Baby Squirrels

I am joining in to Mosaic Monday from Little Red House. Click http://dearlittleredhouse.blogspot.com/ to see other great mosaics. This is new to me, but it was fun learning how to make one. Here's the story behind this mosaic:

I do love me a Sunday nap. A couple weeks ago I had just settled into bed, when Joey came in and said, "I hate to bother you, but I didn't know what to do with this." Well, I didn't have my contacts in, so I couldn't see what "this" was. As he brought it closer, I could see it was a cute little baby squirrel. Well, so much for the nap. I grabbed the camera to take some pictures, and then hopped onto the internet to find out what to do with him. His mother was nowhere to be found, and he had apparently fallen about 30 feet from his nest. He didn't seem hurt, just dehydrated. I learned how to make homemade pedialyte and fed him with a syringe, just 1 cc at a time. I was given a name of a lady nearby who takes in orphaned squirrels, and we were getting ready to take him to her, when we searched the yard and found a second one. We hydrated him and put him in a shoebox with his brother, and took them to her. After coming back home, my husband had some yardwork to do, and low and behold, he found a third one. We called the same lady, and she met us to take in #3. . My sorority mascot in college was squirrels (Alpha Gamma Delta). I guess I'll always have a soft spot for the little critters. Have a great week.

Too cute! I've always liked squirrels, even though they eat our apricots and almonds right off the trees. We finally had to take the apricot tree down, but I don't mind that they eat the almonds...we fed a racoon all of our tomatoes and lettuce that I was growing in pots last year...not on purpose, but when I saw that my plants had been munched, I just thought it was great that we provided an easy meal for them...but we now have to buy our produce at the farmers's market! Kiss those babies for me!

Great mosiac and cute squirrel. We have an overload of squirrels and they are very destructive. I have noticed we have a lot of young ones this Summer.

Oh, how sweet, and how lucky that little squirrel was to land in your yard! My daughter's teacher handfed an orphaned squirrel. The kids loved seeing the squirrel each day. (She even carried it around in a big apron pocket at times!)

Sheila--These are adorable and I can't believe you found someone who knew what to do with them! Thank goodness a dog did not get to them. I have a soft spot for squirrels too--even the pesky ones! I hope you saw my note about accidentally joining my test blog. Hope you'll come back and join the "real" one!

Hi!
Awesome Mosaic! We have squirrels around our place. Have never seen them fall out of their nests before. How lucky they were that you found them a home. Have a great MM Day!

Oh how cute... Don't you wish you could keep them? I found a baby rabbit outside my door one day. It was abandoned poor thing. I took it in, gave it food and water and then it escaped under my bed. That was quite the ordeal. But I got it out and found the mother again. They sure are cute as babies
