Pumpkin Carving

The hayride we went on last week included a pumpkin for each person, and they all ended up at our house. The kids decided they wanted to have a pumpkin carving party, so I made up a big pot of chili and they all came over.

I love pumpkins. I had them lined up by the front door with a pot of mums.
It finally rained here, so we had to dry off the pumpkins before we could even carve them.
Here everyone is getting ready to create...
Shawn is in deep concentration...

Jackson is rolling up his sleeves to help Shannon and Jason...
He helped scoop out the "guts"

One moment it was quiet...everyone was busy carving their own pumpkins..., and Jackson announced, "Look, I'm using a sharp tool". Now that will get your attention real fast.

Mother and Daddy kept Hudson entertained while I took pics.

We laughed a lot.

Made silly faces

and posed for pictures

Shawn and Darris with their spiderweb and owl pumpkins...

This is Darris' pumpkin lit up on the stairs.
You can see two of my little mice I cut from construction paper. The patterns come from Martha Stewart's website.

Here are the pumpkin carvers and their masterpieces.
Shannon and Jason carved Buzz Lightyear and Woody from Toy Story. Joey stuck with the traditional Jack-O-Lantern face.

Spooky...

It was a fun night. I hope our pumpkins last until Halloween.

Happy carving,

Looks like your family had a great time. Chili sounds so good. I use to do the pumpkin carving, then daughter took over. Now she and SIL does it with the Grands.
Glad we got the rain.

What wonderful fun, with your beautiful family in that gorgeous kitchen!!

That reminds me that we HAVE to carve our pumpkin tomorrow morning, before Caro goes to sleep, because Sweetpea Girl won't be here again til she comes for Trick or Treat.

I DO want her to enjoy it, and get her little hands all into the guts of the thing---children invariably LOVE that.

And Caro received the gift of a battery-operated Pumpkin Carver. How very Gucci can you get?

I love being invited to your house!

Sheila, I really enjoyed your post! It was great seeing your family having such a good time together. I love the spider web design pumpkin. I was also quite taken by the pot of bronze mums and pumpkins by the door - so pretty! You also have a stunning kitchen! :-) Thanks for joining the Pumpkin Party! Blessings, Beth

This is so wonderful! I would love nothing more then to have my family over for a pumpkin carving but can't seem to find any interest. Maybe when my boys grow older they will return with family of their own to do this. I just love that your family shared this joy with you! Such fun!

Just dropping by from Beth's. What a fun pumpkin party it has been. I hope to visit everyone!
I love your home. Your front porch and your kitchen are gorgeous. How fun to see everyone working hard. We love the Pumpkin Master's way with patterns. I love to download pics too. One year we came home and a friend had made carved pumpkins of my husband and I. That was a hoot. Thanks for sharing a fun family time.
